Walking With Mom

Mom

I don’t spend near the amount of time as I want to with my parents these days, but I had the chance over the past week to connect with my dad more, hearing stories about him growing up and of his family, and enjoying his company. I loved every moment of it, and was so thankful my schedule was flexible enough to allow for it.

Today I was able to take my mom on a walk, and get her active. Her dementia and diabetes is hard on her, but she always feels good after a walk. I love how she enjoys all the colors of the flowers, and notices nature much more than she used to. It seems as if retreating into her own thoughts has helped her experience the beauty around more easily.

Sometimes is takes years to learn the important lessons in life.
