Day 1

Yikes! I can’t believe that today was the first day of the Ultimate Reset. I’ve been so nervous about starting this program, and everyone says that it’s a total BEAST! I had no idea what to expect. All-in-all, I would say today was a success, and I think this could be quite manageable for the next 21 days……We’ll see if I change my mind in the weeks to come.

We started our morning off much early than normal. Cory (husband) had to be out of the house early, and we thought it would be nice to have us all eat breakfast together (which never happens on school days). The kids all loved it, and I enjoyed it too (although Cory ended up having to leave and couldn’t eat with us). I was then left with tons of time to get the kids ready for school, and had already packed lunches the night before. I haven’t had a non-rushed school morning like that in a very long time!

My only real snag in meal planning was that I went to make miso soup for lunch, and discovered my miso paste had gone bad in the fridge. I hadn’t bought any while grocery shopping this weekend because I knew still had some. However, I didn’t realize how old it really was, and had to ditch it after a sorry attempt to try and salvage it. Thinking quickly on my toes, I found homemade veggie broth in the freezer, completely compatible with the Reset, and heated that up for Cory and I to take with us for lunch today. Success!

The food all tasted good today, and was plenty to eat. In fact, I am still stuffed from dinner, three hours later. It was nice to try some different recipes for familiar dishes. However, I did notice that I ate more olive oil than I would normally eat. I figure that was probably better than the butter I would normally use, but I think I could have used a lot less in the foods I made.

The pill supplements were all tolerable, as well as the timing of everything (it all has very strict timing regime of when you can drink/eat/etc..). The weirdest thing was not drinking water while eating. I’m just not used to that! The power greens shot in the middle of the afternoon was quite horrific. It tasted like drinking alfalfa, texture and all. However, I found if I just plugged my nose and chugged, I finished it just fine. Cory didn’t seem to mind it, and he said it reminded him of growing up on the farm, sucking on alfalfa straw.

I am pretty much prepped and ready to go for tomorrow, at least for breakfast and lunch. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring….
